Oh Yes! I Know "Ugly" When I See It!

Yes! I know ugly when I see it...and I know cute too! This ring (in the header photo) is cute! And I would say that even if it wasn't mine! :-)

But from some comments I got yesterday, about my 'ugly Wuglyee' scarves, I think that my ability to know "ugly" might be in question! So today....I'm gonna prove to you that I know 'ugly' when I see it!! LOL...Let me preface this by saying that my 'knowing' ugly doesn't mean that I wouldn't 'wear' ugly....because I will...in a heartbeat!!...And I have!! ^_^
       Case in point, these earrings...

They're big. They're gaudy. And when you're in a fun mood, they make a great conversation starter! LOL

Now, I'm gonna share a couple of photos of my 'Ugly Wuglyee' scarves in a minute, but first I wanna give you a short tour through one corner of my jewelry box...'Ugly-ville'. ^_^ No, everything in there is not ugly. I have ceramic rose earrings...

      ...My beautiful blue/green abalone earrings...

     ...My swinging wire earrings...

...And even the flower shell necklace that was made for me by a stranger...Well kinda! :-) ...

We were at one of our conventions one summer (we're Jehovah's Witnesses), and on the second day of the convention a woman (a 'sister') walked over to me and said she had seen me the day before. She thought I was beautiful, well-dressed, and she could tell I wasn't afraid of color!
She went home and MADE this necklace to give me the next day....I'm NOT kidding! She said she had the flower shell for years, in a box, and never knew what to do with it. When she saw me, she did! :-)

I tried to pay her for it, I liked it so much! But she wasn't having any of that! So I did the next best thing....I wore it the last day of the convention! :-) I got so many complements on it!
I know it's not everybody's 'cup of tea', but with a linen skirt and some sandals and a pair of hoop earrings....it works! ^_^ ... Now, other earrings in my jewelry box......not so much. :-)) And before you start giggling, remember: I have worn all of these!! :-) ...

These (above) are earrings and a brooch. I haven't worn them recently. They've just been in their box. The reason is because I'm afraid I'm gonna destroy the signatures on them....Yes, each piece is signed! :-)

They're just plastic, but I'm convinced that one day this signature on them is gonna lead to 'the mother-load'!!! LOL Millionaire-dom is right around the multicolored plastic earring corner!! LOL

I call these my 'bubble gum' earrings...

              ...It's self explanatory, right?! :-]

      These are my 'pocketbook' earrings...

....I don't know why. They just look like little pocketbooks to me. :-)) ...I wish I knew what the stone was. They're kinda heavy.

And let's not forget my 'rodeo' earrings...

       ...and the "Pièce de résistance"....

...my beach earrings! ^_^ ...If you've been following my blog, you can see the irony in me owning these....considering I really don't like the beach! LOL...But somebody gave them to me many, many , many years ago, and I haven't been able to part with them.
And yes, I have worn them! ^_^

So, as I said, I 'know' ugly when I see it! ^_^ So, now you'll believe me when I tell you that my scarves are 'ugly'!!...

When my husband saw this one, he was like: "Really?!.....REALLY?!" LOL

He couldn't see the door-stop possibilities in it! ^_^

         Hey!....I would wear it!! O_O ... I don't know where, but some where!! ^_^

And I'd wear this one too!...

Maybe I'd wear this one......ummmmm.......let me see.........Aha! To the circus!! ^_^ I think Bozo the clown could see the humor in it, don't you?! ^_^

Anyway!......From now on out, when I tell you something is ugly...and I may be wearing it at the time....just saying!.....now you'll believe me!! LOL...Have a good rest of the day, everybody! :-)

Sea...beach?!

I love to watch the water almost
as much as I like to gab.
I love to watch the zig and zag
of a house-stealing hermit crab.

I love to watch the sun go down
just as the waters reach.
I love to watch it, yes, so tell me,
why dont I like the beach?!

It may have something to do
with having sand between my toes.
Or the smell of fish and seagulls
doing strange things to my nose!

Or maybe it's the fact that there's
no backyard lawn or hedge.
That's why from home I'll ponder,
'mentally' viewing the water's edge.

So What Had Happened Was.......!

The first thing I wanna do today is apologize for the short...very short!...blog post yesterday. I woke up late, had a million things on my schedule to do, didn't feel good anyway!, and then had an incident with my shop happen that just threw me over the edge! Aargh!!!
While I tell you about it, I'll show you some of my latest crochet lapel pins I'm hoping to put in the shop later today...

So, what had happened was...and yes! I know that's not the proper way to say it. ^_^ But what had happened was...I miss-placed an item that a customer had requested. I'm talking TOTALLY couldn't find it.....ANYWHERE!!! O_O And it was an item that was suppose to be going all the way to Hong Kong too!!...*double O_O*
I almost melted down. That's NEVER happened to me before...Well, I've had a meltdown before, but the loss of an item that I had listed in my shop?! Never!...But I couldn't find it! I have everything in particular places, marked exactly, stored securely.....Aargh!!!! O_O I usually know exactly where to put my hands on things.

How I found out it was missing was that I run an on-going giveaway in my shop. Every 25th item bought from Wuglyees comes with a FREE scarf of that item buyer's choice. The customer that bought my 275th item won the scarf! They live in Hong Kong. I was kinda excited that one of my scarf "babies" was gonna be making that kind of world trip! :-) .....that is, until I realized that the particular scarf they wanted was missing!!!...My excited customer...who had their eye on that particular scarf!...*sigh*...was gonna have to be told that they couldn't have it! :-(
Has this ever happened to any of you?! Or am I the only 'dough, dough'?! Ugh!...And what made matters worse was that I was soooooo sure it was here in the house SOMEWHERE!!! I mean, scarves don't walk! Especially not out of 'my' house!....Ha!...LOL
After looking and looking.....and hunting and hunting....and then re-looking and looking some more...hubby got frustrated with me and said: Why don't we just do a complete inventory....right now!...and let's make sure that nothing else is missing!...There went our plans for breakfast, his early job hunting, and my blog post! :-(

So, that's what we did....hours of inventorying my more than 380 items, plus other stuff I didn't have listed yet! And guess what?...Everything turned up...except that scarf!! O_O

Then hubby said: "Wait a minute! Wasn't that one of the scarves you had set aside for your giveaway recently, that nobody claimed?! It was in here, not in it's usual place, because of that! Didn't you give that scarf to the lady that comes to clean?!".......Aarph?! O_O

Like a bad movie, with tons of clippets of scenes coming at me all in fast motion, I went back in time in my mind...and sure enough, right there between the whirring of her vacuum cleaner, and the big smile on her face when she left, was my scarf....waving bye bye as she flipped it over her shoulder, and said: "Thank you so much!!" when she was going out the door!...*shaking my head*

At that point I was "suppose to" go to the shop and delete it, but I must've gotten side-tracked by something...which doesn't take much these days, with my menopausal unforgiving brain! O_O

So, I had to email my customer with BIG apologies, and ask them to pick another scarf. So far I'm still waiting to see which one that will be...unless they're so mad at me that they never talk to me again, or visit my shop!...*gulp!*...I am such a 'dough, dough' sometimes!!! UGH!

Okay, enough of that now! Self abuse time is over!! It's done and there is nothing that I can do about it now! I have to chock this up to a learning experience. I have to be more particular about what I move in and out of my shop for giveaways, and I have to stop being so hard on myself about things I can't change!...Besides, I can make a million scarves! ^_^ In fact, in the inventory I found a WHOLE BOX of scarves I've never listed!!!
Most of them are 'Ugly Wuglyee' scarves. They may be a bit much for wearing every day. But they'd work great as door-stops or something like that, to tuck under a doorway, to cut the breeze from coming in! :-) ... I may try to get hubby to take the box of them and sit outside next to the curb or something. Maybe he could get $5 or $10 a scarf!!...You'd pay $5 for a door-stop, right?! ^_^ You'd pay it to stop me from getting lost in my inventory and having a meltdown, right?!......Don't answer that! LOL...Anyway, have a good weekend, Everybody! :-)

Change

Oh, I've been so hither thither,
up and down, all here and there.
I guess I'm trying to get a handle
on the changes everywhere.

The changes of the seasons
and the times, and of me.
The changes to my schedule
and responsibility.

I'm not complaining. Not a bit!
This change is good. I will adjust.
Or you will see me near the highway

with a sign: "Will Change Or Bust!"

Unexpected Short Post

Sorry Y'all...gotta make the post short and sweet today. I had an incident come up this morning that needs my attention. I'll be back tomorrow...with bells on! :-) Have a good day!

  Best Laid...UnPlanned

Every last detail
had been very well thought out.
Well-laid plans were in their place.
Wait!...What's this all about?!

A fly has stumbled in the ointment,
'well-thought-out' just got a glitch.
Life has thrown another curve ball,
and all your plans you have to ditch.

'Change-of-plans' were uninvited.
The 'shoe has fallen' without a sound.
Oh Well! You can't be aware of everything,
nor every curve can you see around.

Vanishing Cookies...And Other Stuff Too!

I hardly ever share recipes on my blog, but the oatmeal cookies my hubby made yesterday were...well, still are. I didn't eat 'em all....YET! ^_^... soooo good that I felt like I just had to share! And I'll do that in a minute. But first I wanna show you a few other things...A pair of the cutest baby shoes ever!...

*sigh*....Why couldn't I have had at least one wobble-headed, big foot cute little girl?! ^_^

Moving on!.....This is the cutest owl pin ever!...

Can't you almost hear him in a tree at night saying: "Hoooooo!"?!

      Speaking of trees...

I saw this foggy photo of the blue moon next to this tree and it looked a lot like the woods after the leaves fall from the trees. Hubby says it looks spooky to him, but I just love the photography aspects of it, with the fog, the bare tree and an almost glowing Fall moon.

And I loved this print too...

If you've followed my blog for a while, no explanation is necessary...I miss my entertaining little hummingbirds....*sigh*....But they'll be back next Spring! :-) They've all flown the coup, so to speak...

These cute little cards are gonna fly the coup soon too! :-)

Okay, one more thing to share before I leave you the recipe for the cookies. I just wanted to show you my latest lapel pins. They are flying out of my shop sooooo fast!...

This one is in the shop now, HERE. And I have about 7 or 8 others I need to photograph and list today. But I have other, more pressing, things on my mind today...like my 'talk' (presentation) I'm giving at my place of worship tonight. I've got to get my raspy throat in order to give it! O_O
Here are the two pins I finished last...

The multicolored one is already in the shop too,  HERE, but the white one is part of the custom order I'm working on. Hopefully it'll vanish from the shop soon too! :-))

And speaking of vanishing,....see how I made that word fit so nicely?! Huh?....Huh?! ^_^ Here's the recipe for my hubby's cookies....Ahem! By the way, it's not his actual recipe. He got it from the 'Quaker Oats' oatmeal box. ^_^

Vanishing Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

1/2 cup (1 stick) plus 6 tbsp. butter, softened
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 & 1/2  cups all-purpose flour {For high altitude increase flour to 1 & 3/4 cups}
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
3 cups Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
1 cup raisins

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In large bowl, beat butter and sugars on medium speed of electric mixer until creamy.

2. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.

3. Add combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; mix well.

4. Add oats and raisins; mix well.

5. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets.

6. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; remove to wire rack. Cool completely. Store tightly covered. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
-------------------------------------------------------
For Bar Cookies: Bake 30 to 35 minutes in ungreased 13x9-inch metal baking pan.

           So there you go! And they are so good! The vanishing part is because they will vanish quickly after they're made!!! YUM!!! ^_^ . Okay, I'm off to crochet!! Have a good day, Everybody!! {I'm leaving a few of the lyrics of my poem below off...It sounded too sad. :-)}

My Baby Girl

To the little girl
that I never had,
when I think of you
it makes me sad.

All the years
that I missed;
Your little forehead
I could have kissed.

Watching your eyes
when I breast fed;
Reading you stories
when you went to bed.

How the words
would've run like water
off my tongue,
just to call you "daughter"!

Tucking you in,
with your "Teddy Bear";
Changing your diapers,
combing your hair.

Sharing secrets,
when you could talk;
Watching you pull yourself
up to walk.

The first time you
would eat solid food;
Your first baby pictures,
in the nude.

How I now wish
I had not been afraid,
and let all of my
opportunities fade.

I might well have been
a good mother;
And who knows-
You might have had a brother!

I could have walked you to school
on your first day;
You could have learned to cook.
I would have taught you the way.

You could have played with dad
(Too rough for me!)
I could have watched you sing
with dad-off key.

Oh-The many things
I could have taught her,
my little baby girl,
my child-my daughter.

And I'll hold her close
one day.(I just know it!)
But until then,
I'm just a baby girl poet.

I Had A Dream.....

I know you probably saw the post title and thought: "What is 'Wug' taking?!" ^_^ But no, I'm not taking anything...except my vitamins and supplements and some blood pressure medication. Nothing that induces dreams...I promise! LOL
And the title is not about what you're probably thinking. I'm not talking about Martin Luther King's 'dream'...Or some dream of great wealth and financial stability....I'd have to sleep the big sleep and absolutely lose my mind to be having any such dreams as that!! LOL

No, the dream I had...which I'll tell you about while I share some more of hubby's Holyoke photos...was one I know I made up myself. I know that because I don't believe in mystical interpretation of dreams, and I'm almost pretty sure of what it's about anyway. I'll tell you that in a minute too...after I tell you the dream. :-)

The dream was of me!...on my first day of College! ^_^ The reason that's funny is because I never went to College. I never wanted to go to College. And of all the places to put myself in my dreams...somewhere that I might actually need a 'working' brain would not be the place!! LOL

But there I was, in my dorm room, putting things away!....Then I looked out of a window and could see that classes had begun...YIKES!...apparently I had napped too long! O_O...WOW! there's a surprise!! Ha! Ha!

       Wandering around the room in a nervous state because I was missing class, I decided to chock the day up as lost......Actually, I decided in that minute that this College thing wasn't gonna be for me! ^_^ I need my naps...and without pressure to get to class too! I mean, I've hopped out of school bathroom windows before! LOL {You'd have to be a regular follower of this blog to know what that's about! Sorry. ^_^}

Even though I had decided that I was packing up my 'dog and pony show' and going home....to take a nap!...the dream didn't end there...All of a sudden my two roommates came in. One of them just went over to her bed and flopped. The other one said hi, introduced herself,....I don't remember what her name was. After all, I was outta there! ^_^...and then she wanted to show me some pictures in her camera.

The one she had up was of a beautiful sky....hmmmmm....go figure! LOL...She walked away, but, nosy girl that I am, I wanted to see the other pictures. I saw a button that said: "Only One"....so I pushed it! O_O...Uh Oh!!!!....I actually said: "Uh Oh!" out loud apparently, because she came running over and took the camera from me! O_O

Long story short, and a lot of dream stuff that didn't make sense later, she was NOT happy that I had erased almost 2,000 of her pictures! She said I needed to go and spend $85.00 and get her another similar camera or bring her the $85.00 tomorrow!!! O_O
Little does she know, I'm not coming back to school tomorrow....or ever.....and that she's a goner already too! LOL....Not in an I killed her sense...I wouldn't do that! :-) But in a 'you're only a product of my dreams girl' kinda way! ^_^

That dream seemed so real...and then I woke up and told hubby about it, and we laughed like crazy people! :-) In fact, I probably should be offended that he laughed as much as he did!!...But since I know exactly why he did, and I completely concur....it's all good! ^_^
As I said, I know what the dream is about anyway. Part of it is editing waaaay too many of hubby's pictures at bedtime...The other part is that I have a talk, a presentation, in my congregation's Theocratic Ministry school this week, and I've been practicing like a crazy girl! ^_^ I'm kinda nervous about how it's gonna go...I know it's gonna be fine though. :-)

You also can probably tell by the amount of words on this page, that I'm feeling better. :-] Still not 100%, but certainly waaaaay better than I was! I just have a headache left, and a slight cough and some drippy-ness and raspy-ness. Hopefully after some hot green tea and lemon, that will be all gone too!...I sure hope so! I don't wanna sound like Mr. Wug during my talk! LOL

So that's what I'll be doing today. Watching a video, working on my talk, finishing some studying, and Oh yeah! I also woke up this morning to a request that might be a custom order! YAY!...So I'll probably start work on that a little later....As you can see, I've got plenty of things to keep me awake and busy, and out of dreamland! LOL My dreams are a wild ride! The poem below is one I wrote about another dream I had one time!

Have a good day, Everybody! :-)

It All Went Away In A Fog

I dreamed I was writing my blog,
in the middle of an old Irish bog.
There came a woof! woof!
and the pounding of hoof,
and it all went away in a fog.

The next night I was out for a jog,
and again heard that same old dog!
I took off down the street,
hid in golden high wheat,
and it all went away in a fog.

I awoke eating just like a hog,
having wine with a spicy cheese log.
Giving numerous naps,
and the dog all my scraps,
it all went away in a fog!
